Love it!

July 2, 2008

I love receiving thank you card, well who doesn’t :)  I received one in the mail the other day from Annie and Jake (you might remember their wedding a month ago and their trash the dress session.) I loved the card, it was perfect!

we loved the photo and kind words :)

(as a disclaimer, we don’t normally stand next to each other when we shoot, it just happened to be the time when Annie and Jake first saw each other that day and there is only so far you can go on a bridge :P  )

We also received an email from a fellow photographer friend Mike Brice who we ran into while shooting at the museum on Saturday, he sent us this…..

Because we are always behind the camera we don’t have many photos of ourselves, so we appreciate it, even if joe’s face is covered :)  lol

A few more kind words we like to share and let you know we truly appreciate them, we love what we do and put our heart and soul into this so we always love to know it is appreciated.

“we want to thank you and Joe, the pictures were absolutely wonderful, more than we ever expected. I showed a few people the slideshow, and they were just amazed at how the pictures captured the moments and people at the wedding were so impressed at how friendly and fun you guys were! The magic of the whole day can be re-lived through your great pictures.

Lisa”

“Carli!
Holy Goodness!! We love every single picture! You and Joe did an amazing job!
-Robin”

Carli,

I just wanted to thank you again for doing such an awesome job on the pictures of my girls!  You are always so easy to work with, and I really appreciate the time and attention to detail that you obviously put into the work that you do.  The fact that you come to us and photograph the kids in their own familiar environment makes it so much less stressful for me as a mom than to pack them (and all of their things!) up and take them to a strange studio. You capture real moments, of them just being themselves!  Those are the types of memories that I will want to look back upon in the future.  Thanks again and I know we will see you again soon, after all the kids are changing everyday and will need more beautiful photos to help and capture those fleeting moments!

Sincerely,
Amy (Bacon) Adams”

Thanks we love working with you all and allowing us to come into your life and make beautiful artwork of your special day and your beautiful children.

P.S.  we have some very big news that we will be sharing very soon, so stay tuned!

Little Sprouts Academy

June 14, 2008

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Christy from Little Sprouts academy earlier this year at the Toledo Baby Show and I was very impressed, so I wanted to feature them on our blog.

Here is my interview with her:

A little about your business:

Little Sprouts Academy is a licensed daycare in West Toledo.  We offer an advanced curriculum, college-educated instructors, all meals, and best of all peace of mind with our live internet webcams for parents to view anytime!

How did you get started in this field?

Working with children has always been rewarding for me.  Also, I wanted the chance to own a business that really cared about the well-being of both our customers and our employees.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love when the children run up to show me what they did with their instructor that day and they have a big smile on their face.  The children really love our program and it touches my heart to know I helped contribute to make that happen.

When someone comes into your shop or hires your services, what should they expect?

Clients will get a safe and clean daycare center that truly cares about the well-being of their children as well as their family.  We get to know our parents on a more personal level, and we try to exceed all expectations they have of us.  We also work one-on-one with them to offer added flexibility and care for different developmental needs which many centers lack.

What makes you different from other people in your field?

I know that most people in the childcare field say they love kids, which makes us all the same.  What makes me different is the drive and dedication to provide an extremely rewarding environment for each child, and the peace of mind through our webcams for the parents.

What is one piece of advice you would give all your clients/customers/readers?

Do a lot of research before you choose a daycare center.  There are so many questions to ask to ensure you are getting quality.  For example, many people don’t think to ask about staff/child ratios in a center.  This can be extremely important as it shows how individualized care will be for your child.

Now a little about you:

What is your favorite restaurant in Toledo?

El Camino Real on the corner of Douglas and Sylvania.

What is your favorite band or type of music to listen to?

I like all kinds.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Hmmm….I can’t think of a guilty pleasure.  I do love chocolate.

What is one goal you have this year?

To expand our daycare into a new building in West Toledo We are working on this right now actually!

What is something people might be surprised to know about you?

I speak some Russian and play the French Horn.

What is something you think is beautiful?

Blue skies and sunshine in Toledo, Ohio. J

What is your best feature?

My sense of humor.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

Keep trying to reach your goal, but never compromise your personal ethics and morals.

What is one question you would add to this for other professional to answer?

What do you hope to add to our community?

Now answer it yourself :)

I hope to add a place where working parents can rest assured their child is in great care, as well as a place where employees truly enjoy working.

The onelight workshop ROCKED!

April 18, 2008

Yesterday I went to the one light workshop in Detroit it was awesome.  It started at 10 in the morning and we finished shooting at midnight and then went back to the house to discuss some of the images and talked till 1:15 when I had to leave so I could make it home :)

Zack was an awesome teacher of this workshop check out his blog here.

This workshop is all about off camera lighting, and as most of you know I have been an available light shooter most the time, but the off camera lighting gives me options, it doesn’t mean I am going to ditch the available light it just means I can give you all  a lot more options with your photos!

Here are some photos from the workshop:

This is the whole crew and zack!

Here are a few of my photos from the day:

Can you believe that these next few were taken at 11:00 at night in an abandon parking lot next to a old building?

And then here are a few with available light, because I still love available light :)

So like I said before expect a lot more cool stuff this year with Shutter Love, we are going to be offering some things that you can’t get anywhere else in town.  (Like our children’s alphabet books, those are a ShutterLove original :) )
