Recent Family Portrait

December 28, 2006

On Tuesday the 26th we took a quick drive to Waterville to photograph Kathie and her family.  Kathie has worked with my parents for a number of years and I have heard very good things about her, so I was happy when she contacted me to schedule a family portrait.  Her son was in town for Christmas from Colorado so there wasn’t a large window of opportunity luckly it worked out that everyone was free the day after Christmas.  The photoshoot consisted of Kathie, her son, her daughter, her daughter’s boyfriend and her two grandchildern.  I don’t think her granddaughter was too thrilled with the camera in her face, but we managed to get some good ones of her.  Now her grandson on the other hand loved the camera and was hamming it up for us.

We had a great time photographing them all.

Here are a few photos from the shoot, we hope you enjoy!

we will have a slideshow up in a couple days.

I love Christmas!!!!

December 26, 2006

Even though this time of year can be hectic, I love it!  The Christmas music, the buying and I must say receiving, the holiday cookies and decorations.  I know that it sometimes gets a little less exciting as you grow up but there are always new things to enjoy.  I loved watching my little cousins open their gifts, I love getting together with my family and seeing what is new since thanksgiving and there is always a lot going on with the families.

We went to Columbus (I don’t know why we didn’t take any photos down there) but we got to see my soon to be in laws (Joe’s folks) and this was the first time we have made it down to Columbus since we got engaged in the middle of October, so we got to talk a lot about the wedding (which I love of course.)  Joe and I both got a ton of great stuff from his parents and his brother Jeff, his other brother wasn’t able to come in from Chicago, hopefully we will be able to make a trip to visit him soon.

We came back from Columbus late Saturday, then Sunday Joe had to work during the day and I started getting our house back in order (read previous post).  Then we went to my grandma and grandpa’s house (Mimi and Papu) on my mom’s side and had some great food and got to hear about everything going on with that side of the family.  My cousin’s wedding in June, my other cousin is home from her first year in college, all the little ones opening gifts, it was a lot of fun.

Here are some photos from that house:

Luke got a tool belt as a gift and was having trouble bending down once it was on.  He looked like a real carpenter.

My Aunt Terri always makes delicious desserts, the chocolate cheesecake is one of Joe’s favorites and below that is Mimi’s famous blueberry deluxe pie which is my favorite.  Mimi won a contest for this recipe in the Blade a number of years back and she still gets calls about the recipe=)

Monday morning we celebrate Christmas with my sister Colbi, brother-in-law Matt, my Mom, Dad, Grandma Smith and Joe.  This year we got together at my sister’s house and she made some great banana chocolate chip muffins and an egg dish.  It is always nice to do our Christmas first thing in the morning before Colbi and Matt leave to visit his family.

Below is a blanket that my Grandma gave Colbi for little Jackson, it was my dad’s baby blanket and now it is being passed down to the new little boy in the family=)  It was made by our Great-Great-Great Grandmother.

Little Jackson is going to be a Brown’s fan whether he wants to be or not=)

My mom got my dad this month’s selection from Beer of the Month and my dad loves to try new types of beer, I am not a beer drinker so maybe it’s just me, but Santa’s Butt doesn’t sound too tasty to me.

My Cat Charlie even got in the holiday spirit.

Later that evening we went to my Aunt Terri’s house for a couple hours and then to my Aunt Ginger’s house to see my dad’s side of the family.  All and all it was a wonderful holiday.  I look forward to next year when Joe and I will be celebrate as husband and wife=)

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and we are wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Our new floors and the adventure getting them.

December 24, 2006

Our life has been a little hectic this time of year.  We decided to get our floors refinished.  We had ugly old carpet that needed to be pulled up so Joe and I did that on the weekend of the 9th and 10th in our living room, dinning room and the hallway between the two bedrooms.  That was a task in itself, the carpet was really old so there was all kinds of dust and what not to deal with when pulling it up.  Then the following weekend of the 16th and 17th we got to pull up the hundreds of staples left by the carpet and pack our two rooms worth of furniture into our two bedrooms that already have enough furniture of their own.  That resulted in this:

our extra room.

our bedroom.

I know it was a little crazy doing this all right before Christmas, but since we were visiting everyone else’s house and we weren’t having guest over to ours we didn’t think it was a big deal.  So we moved into my parents house for a couple days, so we thought.  We were suppose to be back in out house on Thursday, I thought that would work out because I have Friday off I would be able to get the house mostly back together before Christmas.  Then it got moved back and we wouldn’t be able to be into the house till Friday, still not a problem, and then it got moved back once again to Saturday, which gave us a lot less time to get everything semi put together by Christmas, considering we would be in Columbus Friday night and Saturday to visit Joe’s family for Christmas.

Luckily my parents were soooo nice and came over Saturday afternoon and moved a little furniture out of our bedroom so we could go to sleep Saturday when we returned late in the evening.  They were a huge help throughout this process and although it took a little longer than expected we now have beautiful hard wood floors all through our house, now we just need to get everything else back together in our rooms.

Here are a few shots of our rooms with the new floors before anything was moved back:

Thank you Mom and Dad for all your help!

Colbi’s ultrasound

December 19, 2006

I had the pleasure of going to my sister’s ultrasound with her husband and both of my parents.  My friend Cindy is an ultrasound tech so she didn’t mind us all in the room.  It was a very exciting ultrasound because we found out the sex of the baby.

IT’S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!

Matt looked like a very proud dad when he found out he was having a boy!

I am going to have a little nephew Jackson.   I can’t wait, it was only my sister and myself in the house growning up so now I get to experience having a little guy around.  I can not wait to meet little Jackson in April, he can not get here soon enough!

Cute little Luke

December 14, 2006

About a month ago we photographed my cousin Sara’s little boy Luke.  He is soooo cute and an extremely smart little guy.  Sara is an excellent writer (not always my strongest) and she helped us clearly write our ideas of our wedding photography for our website, it was a great help and as a thank you we went and photographed Luke.  It was so much fun, and he is definitely very energetic.  Here are some from that shoot.

It never hurts to bribe kids to sit still=)

Isn’t he soooooo cute!!!!!!

Thanks again Sara for helping us out!

Wow, what a busy time of year.

December 8, 2006

Sorry I haven’t updated in a while.  It’s is a very busy time of year, not only is it Christmas time (which I love) but Joe and I are planning our wedding for next September.  Planning has been a lot of fun, but a little stressful.  We have the majority of large stuff planned, since spring, summer and fall are our busiest times as photographers, we want to make sure we have our wedding set so that we can enjoy and concetrate on all of our brides weddings.

We are also getting everything ready for our first bridal fair the first week in January.  We are going to have a booth at the Sound of Music bridal fair Jan 6th & 7th.  I would recommend this bridal show to every Bride-to-be out there it is the largest on in the Toledo Area.  We will be offering discounts if you book with us for 2007 or 2008 at the bridal show.  We will also be auctioning off an engagement/portrait session.  Stop by and check out our booth and just say hi.

Now for the most exciting new in my life…….

Joe and I are going to be an AUNT & UNCLE!!!!!!!!!  My sister is pregnant with her first child and since she is also my only sibling it will be my first little niece/nephew.  We couldn’t be more excited.  I can’t wait till the end of April when she has her child, I already volunteer to babysit!

I will scan an ultrasound soon and share!
