Even though this time of year can be hectic, I love it! The Christmas music, the buying and I must say receiving, the holiday cookies and decorations. I know that it sometimes gets a little less exciting as you grow up but there are always new things to enjoy. I loved watching my little cousins open their gifts, I love getting together with my family and seeing what is new since thanksgiving and there is always a lot going on with the families.
We went to Columbus (I don’t know why we didn’t take any photos down there) but we got to see my soon to be in laws (Joe’s folks) and this was the first time we have made it down to Columbus since we got engaged in the middle of October, so we got to talk a lot about the wedding (which I love of course.) Joe and I both got a ton of great stuff from his parents and his brother Jeff, his other brother wasn’t able to come in from Chicago, hopefully we will be able to make a trip to visit him soon.
We came back from Columbus late Saturday, then Sunday Joe had to work during the day and I started getting our house back in order (read previous post). Then we went to my grandma and grandpa’s house (Mimi and Papu) on my mom’s side and had some great food and got to hear about everything going on with that side of the family. My cousin’s wedding in June, my other cousin is home from her first year in college, all the little ones opening gifts, it was a lot of fun.
Here are some photos from that house:

Luke got a tool belt as a gift and was having trouble bending down once it was on. He looked like a real carpenter.

My Aunt Terri always makes delicious desserts, the chocolate cheesecake is one of Joe’s favorites and below that is Mimi’s famous blueberry deluxe pie which is my favorite. Mimi won a contest for this recipe in the Blade a number of years back and she still gets calls about the recipe=)

Monday morning we celebrate Christmas with my sister Colbi, brother-in-law Matt, my Mom, Dad, Grandma Smith and Joe. This year we got together at my sister’s house and she made some great banana chocolate chip muffins and an egg dish. It is always nice to do our Christmas first thing in the morning before Colbi and Matt leave to visit his family.

Below is a blanket that my Grandma gave Colbi for little Jackson, it was my dad’s baby blanket and now it is being passed down to the new little boy in the family=) It was made by our Great-Great-Great Grandmother.

Little Jackson is going to be a Brown’s fan whether he wants to be or not=)

My mom got my dad this month’s selection from Beer of the Month and my dad loves to try new types of beer, I am not a beer drinker so maybe it’s just me, but Santa’s Butt doesn’t sound too tasty to me.

My Cat Charlie even got in the holiday spirit.

Later that evening we went to my Aunt Terri’s house for a couple hours and then to my Aunt Ginger’s house to see my dad’s side of the family. All and all it was a wonderful holiday. I look forward to next year when Joe and I will be celebrate as husband and wife=)
We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and we are wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!
